Hoya Reports Solid Q2 2017 Gains in Eyeglass Sales

HOYA reported strong sales of eyeglass lenses within the Americas in their Q2 2017 sales amid what they describe as a “challenging market”, recording growth of 6%, while Asia/Oceania was up 6%. Sales in Japan declined, though the prices for eyeglass lenses have stabilized.

Performance in Europe was reported to be unsatisfactory by Hoya, citing changes in insurance plans in France leading to lower performance, driving down HOYA earnings in Europe. Contact lens sales improved globally between 5% and 6% year on year.

HOYA expects profits to improve in the second half of 2017 thanks to fewer mergers and acquisitions costs.
