SILMO Paris has named Joachim Froment as president of the jury for the SILMO d’Or 2026, placing an industrial designer and creative director with a cross-disciplinary background at the head of this year’s awards process.
Based in Brussels, Froment is a graduate of the Royal College of Art in London and is known for a design approach that brings together industrial production, technology, and user experience. According to SILMO, his appointment reflects a broader interest in design that extends beyond function to include emotion, systems thinking, and the evolving relationship between people and objects.

Froment began his career in Copenhagen and later co-founded Futurewave, a design and technology studio that has collaborated with brands including Renault, LVMH, and Richemont, as well as companies working in emerging technologies.
SILMO said his work is guided by a holistic, or “ecosystemic,” view of design, in which products are conceived as part of broader systems rather than as standalone objects. His projects have spanned categories including furniture, lighting, mobility, and consumer electronics.
Over the course of his career, Froment has received several international distinctions, including iF Design Awards, Good Design Awards, and Core77 Awards.
According to the organizers, his presidency of the jury is intended to support an edition of the SILMO d’Or focused on innovation, use, and the emotional dimension of design, while highlighting the changing role of optics in a contemporary context.
The SILMO d’Or 2026 will be held as part of SILMO Paris, taking place from September 25 to 28 at Paris Nord Villepinte.
