EssilorLuxottica Expands Essilor Stellest Platform with New 2.0 Lenses, Smart Glasses and Pre-Myopia Solution

EssilorLuxottica has announced a major evolution of its Essilor Stellest myopia management platform at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai. With more than 45 years of research dedicated to myopia management, the expanded Stellest portfolio reflects the Group’s commitment to delivering clinically proven innovations for the 740 million children projected to be affected by myopia by 2050.

Stronger Clinical Performance with Essilor Stellest 2.0

The newly introduced Essilor Stellest 2.0 lenses offer significantly improved efficacy in slowing axial elongation—the key driver of myopia progression. A recent study shows that the new lens design generates a stronger optical signal, delivering double the mean optical power, resulting in more effective myopia control.

Already available in Greater China, Essilor Stellest 2.0 will roll out to additional key markets starting in 2026. The launch builds on the success of the original Essilor Stellest lens, the first FDA-authorized spectacle lens clinically proven to slow myopia progression in children.

A Preventive Approach for Children at Risk of Myopia

EssilorLuxottica is also expanding into early intervention with Essilor Stellest plano pair lenses, designed for children identified as being at risk of developing myopia. Clinical research demonstrates that delaying myopia onset by just one year can deliver benefits comparable to more than two years of slowed progression.

In one of the world’s first randomized, controlled, independent trials on plano lenses for myopia onset delay, children aged 6–12 who wore Essilor Stellest plano pair lenses for more than 30 hours per week experienced slower axial elongation. The solution is now available in Greater China.

Introducing Essilor Stellest Smartglasses

For the first time, EssilorLuxottica unveiled Essilor Stellest Smartglasses, bringing smart functionality to the Stellest brand. Equipped with Essilor Stellest lenses, the glasses track wearing time and behavioral patterns, helping ensure compliance—an essential factor in treatment success.

Essilor Stellest Smartglasses will be available in Mainland China starting Q1 2026.

A Continued Commitment to Evidence-Based Innovation

“At the forefront of med-tech innovation, we are transforming myopia management with our Essilor Stellest platform,” said Francesco Milleri, Chairman and CEO, and Paul du Saillant, Deputy CEO of EssilorLuxottica. “By combining advanced lens technology with smart features, we enable early intervention, promote healthy wearing habits, and accelerate progress in slowing myopia progression in children. Our purpose is clear: turning evidence into action and technology into empowerment.”

With these innovations, EssilorLuxottica strengthens its position in preventive and active myopia management, advancing eye health solutions for the next generation.
