The OSI Group welcomed a record turnout of independent eyecare professionals at its 2025 National Summit, held November 14–16 at White Oaks Resort & Spa in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
The event opened with a charity wine-pairing evening that raised $10,000 for the University of Waterloo’s Seeing Beyond 20/20 campaign. The contribution was accepted on behalf of the Waterloo Eye Institute by Lisa Maxwell, president of the University of Waterloo Advancement of Independent Optometry Club.
Throughout the weekend, independent practice owners, optometrists, opticians, managers, clinic staff, and optometry students took part in a robust schedule of training and continuing education. International keynote speaker Michel Falcon delivered the opening address, followed by sessions led by OSI peers including Drs. Lauren Tabone, Christina Schropp, David Ng, Patrick Simard, Christine Yeung, and Harbir Sian.
More than 52 suppliers participated in the OSI Expo tradeshow, offering attendees a look at the latest innovations in eyewear and eyecare technology.
Saturday evening featured A Night of Winter Wonders, where eight clinics were recognized with the OSI Group Excellence Award across four categories. The gala included a performance by Toronto singer and Golden Buzzer recipient Roberta Battaglia.
The Summit wrapped on Sunday with Optosys training sessions focused on efficiency, inventory management, and workflow optimization. Eyewear image consultant Wendy Buchanan offered a preview of 2026 eyewear trends, and closing speaker Nancy Dewald delivered insights on navigating generational differences in the workplace.

Attendees praised the event’s all-in-one format. “It is convenient to have everything in one location, with rich content sessions, networking opportunities, and top-notch entertainment,” said Dr. Dallas Wagner of For Sight Vision Centre. “It is perfect for team building with my staff.”
The next OSI National Summit will take place in October 2026 at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.
