Oakley Redefines Prescription Performance with Shield Fusion
Friday, September 18 2026 | 09 h 00 min | News
Oakley is marking a new chapter in performance eyewear by introducing prescription technology into shield designs for the first time in 30 years. Engineered for athletes of all levels who need vision correction but refuse to compromise on performance or aesthetics, the prescription is bonded directly to the back of the shield lens using an advanced lamination process powered by Shamir.
By eliminating traditional inserts, the system removes bulk and visual distraction while remaining nearly invisible from the front. The result is high‑quality prescription vision correction in a bold, performance‑driven design tailored to modern sport and active lifestyles.

A unified optical and performance design approach
“The strongest results come when different areas of expertise come together and push each other forward. Oakley and Shamir worked as one team from ideation through development and optimization, combining performance design with advanced optical science. The result is a prescription solution engineered as one integrated system, delivering field of view, fit and performance without compromising a single detail of the product’s design,” said Vincenzo Spremulli, Senior Director of Global R&D and Innovation at Oakley.
“Oakley’s pioneering approach to performance eyewear is exactly what we were looking for in this collaboration. We’re proud to bring advanced technology to the everyday wearer, and deliver a product that brings precision, performance, and optimization to prescription eyewear,” added Zohar Katzman, Vice President of Engineering and Technology at Shamir.
