Seneca Polytechnic and CooperVision Canada have announced the opening of the CooperVision Contact Lens Centre of Excellence, a state‑of‑the‑art training facility designed to expand hands‑on learning for Opticianry students and strengthen ties between education, industry and patient care.

Located at Seneca’s Newnham Campus, the Centre is equipped with modern instrumentation and industry‑leading technology to support instruction in contact lens fitting, assessment, dispensing and patient education. The facility aims to help students build practical skills and clinical confidence for careers in today’s evolving vision‑care environment.
Seneca President David Agnew highlighted the importance of preparing future eye care professionals with real‑world tools and techniques, noting that the partnership ensures students learn with the same technologies used in professional practice.

A hub for learning, collaboration and professional development
Beyond supporting Seneca’s Opticianry program, the Centre of Excellence will host educational events, demonstrations and collaborative programming. The goal is to create opportunities for students, eye care professionals and CooperVision teams to share knowledge and engage with emerging technologies and patient‑care practices.
CooperVision Canada Country Manager Enrique Contreras emphasized the company’s commitment to investing in future professionals and advancing vision care across Canada.
The Centre further strengthens Seneca’s longstanding relationships with leaders in the optical and vision‑care sectors, bringing together education, industry expertise and hands‑on learning to support the next generation of eye care professionals.
