SILMO Paris 2026 once again proved to be the essential meeting point for the global optics and eyewear industry. Over four days, the show welcomed 32,108 professionals, including 53% international visitors from nearly 150 countries. More than 950 exhibitors and 1,500 brands showcased their expertise across 80,000 m², offering a comprehensive view of the trends, technologies and challenges shaping the future of optics.
Connected optics takes a major leap forward
At the heart of the event, SILMO Next highlighted an industry undergoing rapid transformation. Smart glasses, artificial intelligence and predictive health tools were among the innovations visitors could test firsthand, demonstrating how connected optics is reshaping both in‑store practices and the wearer experience.
A standout moment was the first international hackathon dedicated to health applications for smart glasses. The winning project, Kimoo, developed on the HTC platform, impressed the jury unanimously. Designed to support individuals with ADHD, the assistant helps improve focus, reduce anxiety and limit procrastination — a concrete example of how AI can enhance everyday visual and cognitive wellbeing.
2026 Trends: four strong creative directions
The Trends Forum unveiled the major stylistic themes that will influence upcoming collections:
- Fancy, unapologetic fantasy;
- Charisma, inspired contrasts;
- Adrenaline, vibrant tech;
- Aura, a modern revival of ’90s glam.
A curated selection of optical and sun frames illustrated these directions, confirming the growing importance of design as a form of personal expression.
SILMO d’Or: celebrating innovation and craftsmanship
The 33rd SILMO d’Or awards showcased the dialogue between technology, design and craftsmanship. Among the winners:
- Laclarée (autofocus glasses),
- Mega Optic – EvosightVR,
- Caroline Abram – Sakura,
- rolf. Eyewear – Superbird,
- GETD & Marienfeld – Luxury AI glasses.
These awards highlight a sector that continues to innovate while preserving exceptional know‑how.
CSR: a growing priority for the industry
The CSR Spot – Good Eyes on the Planet featured eco‑responsible materials, committed start-ups and expert‑led workshops. The Committed Company Award went to Andy Wolf, recognised for its exemplary sustainability strategy: Acetate Renew, 100% European production, reduced product footprint and repair services.
SILMO Paris will return in 2027 for a landmark edition celebrating the 60th anniversary of the show.
