Winners of the SILMO d’Or 2025

The SILMO d’Or awards, the ultimate accolade for the optics and eyewear sector, were presented to the winners from an impressive list of nominees!

Category: CHILDREN

Manti Manti – “3D Collection”

The 3D collection for children combines sustainable PA11 made from castor beans with advanced 3D printing. The faces and arms are printed separately, then assembled into ultra-lightweight, flexible, and durable frames. This process reduces waste, offers greater design freedom, and ensures a perfect fit for children’s active lifestyles—unlike traditional acetate or injection-molded frames, it combines innovation with playful design.

CATEGORY: SPORT

Evil Eye Eyewear – “Speedsense”

This model features a rimless frame that offers an unobstructed field of vision and maximum protection for sports activities. With a unique lens locking system: an integrated lever mechanism allows athletes to change lenses quickly and safely, a unique feature for shield-type frames. And featuring precise adjustment thanks to a tension bar: this technology ensures a perfect fit and optimal comfort, while providing ideal ventilation.

CATEGORY: VISION

Rodenstock – “B.I.G EXACT Sensitive”

With B.I.G. EXACT® Sensitive, the world’s first lens customized to each individual’s visual sensitivity and biometrics, a new milestone has been reached. We discovered that visual sensitivity is unique to each person and linked it to the individual biometrics of the eyes. With this knowledge, we perfected our biometric lens calculations to design lenses that are perfectly tailored to each individual, marking the latest evolution of B.I.G. VISION®.

CATEGORY: TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION IN EYEWEAR

QED Eyewear – “Phi”

The result of several years of research and development, PHI is based on a patented fastening system that is durable, reversible, glue-free, washer-free, and contains no consumable parts. It can be quickly assembled, effortlessly disassembled, and requires little to no maintenance. Entirely reusable and waste-free, the system is a sustainable solution designed with both opticians and the planet in mind.

Category: SMART EYEWEAR

EssilorLuxottica – “Nuance Audio”

The new invisible hearing solution. Hear better in noisy environments with all-in-one glasses designed for people with mild to moderate hearing loss.

CATEGORY: OPTICAL FRAME “LABELS”

TAG HEUER – “Line”

THE UNIQUE DYNEEMA® DOUBLE BRIDGE. Why incorporate a material as technical as Dyneema® into our optical frames? It’s not just to create a unique style for LINE, it’s also a perfect illustration of quest for useful innovation, bringing both greater flexibility and strength to this model. Add to that the bio-nylon carbon frame, titanium bridge, and cork sleeves, and this frame is a true distillation of high-end materials.

CATEGORY: SUNGLASSES “LABELS”

COMO – “YYSUN502” Yohji Yamamoto

Introducing the YYSUN502 model, sunglasses that combine innovation, boldness, and luxury. Their sculptural structure is enhanced by a micro-perforated metal bridge, a unique detail that gives them strength and lightness. The gold or silver rim highlights the elegance of the gradient lenses, offering both protection and visual comfort. More than just an accessory, it is an iconic piece that reflects a contemporary vision of refinement.

CATEGORY: OPTICAL FRAME “EYEWEAR DESIGNER”

Dzmitry Samal – “Luc”

A contemporary take on the logo frame. Dynamic polygon with matte indentations and colored resin inserts. The temples are made of two materials. The frame is lightweight, graphic, elegant, and poetic.

CATEGORY: SUNGLASSES “EYEWEAR DESIGNER”

Design Eyewear Group – “Flare” Face à Face

A luminous fracture. A line. A flash. Perfect imbalance. The design is radical, the asymmetry masterful. A vivid line transcends the face. The style stands out, the gaze sparkles.

CATEGORY: OPTICAL FRAME “EYEWEAR MAKER”

VANNI – “Extra”

An EXTRA collection in every sense of the word. More than just an accessory, it’s a bold style statement: the frames feature unique contours and a distinctive design, adding a touch of personality without compromising on comfort. The frames are cut from 8 mm acetate and feature continuous nose pads. The faceted profile visually softens the frontal impact of the thick frames, maintaining a solid structure and lightness.

CATEGORY: Sunglasses – “Eyewear maker”

Piero Massaro – “Tramonti di pietra”

This model from Piero Massaro’s Saline collection captures the magic of light dancing on the salt flats. Red and yellow come together like two sunsets reflected in the water, while the gradient lenses evoke distant horizons. More than just a pair of glasses, it is a journey for the eyes—a vision of elegance, purity, and timeless Italian wonder. Limited edition and numbered production.

CATEGORY: MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT

ACEP – “Smart Mirror AI”

Smart Mirror AI replaces manual systems where the operator had to check the position of approximately 26 points per photo. Artificial intelligence captures several images, discards those that are poorly positioned, checks the measurement points, and selects the best one. The process is fully automated and takes less than 10 seconds.

Jury’s special prize

Sapiens – “ER-1813 M”

The idea was to create a pair of sunglasses frames similar to a mask, but with the option of inserting prescription lenses. This piece is part of the SAPIENS collection. The concept behind the SAPIENS collection is based on a free design exercise inspired by certain skulls from human evolution. This particular model is based on a Homo habilis skull, code KNM ER1813, which is why the model is named ER1813-M.
