Nikon Optical Canada announces the launch of Z Series Single Vision; its first portfolio of single vision lenses designed with binocular precision to enhance contrast through the lens.
While 9 out of 10 single vision wearers report being broadly satisfied with their lenses², closer examination of vision quality reveals persistent challenges, particularly around sharpness in the lens periphery and in low-light conditions². These findings highlight the limitations of traditional lenses designed for monocular and symmetrical single vision design in addressing the dynamic nature of human vision.
With Z Series Single Vision, Nikon Lenswear advances its contrast evaluation further by incorporating binocular summation, allowing contrast to be assessed as perceived by both eyes working together.
From Insight to Innovation: The Asymmetric Z-Contrast Technology
Thanks to the breakthrough Asymmetric Z-Contrast Technology, it is engineered to optimize binocular contrast and reflect how both eyes work together as one system, enabling wearers to experience life with higher definition*1.
With its different geometries across distinct sections of the lens surface, Asymmetric Z-Contrast Technology :
- Optimizes the nasal and temporal section of the lenses for a broader clear field of view supporting today’s dynamic lifestyles.
- Optimizes the lower nasal zone adapted for near focus and clarity on digital devices.
- Adjusts according to ametropia to support contrast and clarity.
The resulting design enhances binocular contrast transmission through the lens and reflects how human eyes truly see: two eyes working together, dynamically yet distinctly. The visual experience is therefore elevated allowing single vision wearers to experience life with high definition*1 so they can:
- Enjoy sharper contrast†1, even as their eyes move
- Enjoy a clearer panoramic view†1, edge to edge
- See with enhanced clarity on digital devices†1
Z Series Single Vision lenses with Asymmetric Z-Contrast Technology are available as of September 9th 2026 in SeeMax Infinite Z and AS ViewFit Z.
In addition, contrast mastery powered by Contrast-Boosted Twin Technology is offered as of September 9th 2026 to Nikon Lenswear’s digital lifestyle lens Relaxsee Z – designed for consumers spending long hours on digital devices to support everyday vision. This enhancement refines the contrast experience at near distances and delivers enhanced support for near vision§1.
By bringing contrast to the forefront of single vision lens innovation with Z Series Single Vision, Nikon Lenswear aims to empower wearers to experience life with higher definition*1, reflecting a simple truth: if we never choose to capture our lives in low definition, why should our vision be any different?
