PlenOptika Recognized by Startup Innovation and Small Business Technology Transfer Program

PlenOptika, US marketer of QuickSee, “The world’s most accurate handheld wavefront autorefractor”, was named one of five Stage II “START” Winner by MassVentures, a venture capital firm that helps transfer research and early-stage innovations into technology businesses and jobs in the state of Massachusetts.

QuickSee’s combination of the open view binocular design, wavefront aberrometry, and dynamic measurements produces clinically accurate autorefraction measurements, in a durable handheld format suitable for use in clinics and in the field, according to the company.

“The patented PlenOptika Wavefront Refraction Engine™ performs continuous data analysis to precisely determine low-order refractive errors, making QuickSee as accurate as the high-end clinical desktop autorefractors and demonstrating excellent agreement with subjective refraction.”

In response to Optik’s inquiry, the company spokesperson responded, “At this time we don’t have registration with Health Canada. The company partners with national distributors outside of the United States, and invite expressions of interest from potential distributors in Canada.”

The Mass Ventures START program helps deep tech startups convert their Small Business Innovation and Small Business Technology Transfer research (SBIR/STTR) into businesses and jobs in Massachusetts. Over 10 years, $28.2 million has been granted to 95 companies that have gone on to raise more than $2.5 billion and employ more than 3,000 people in the state.
