We are seeking a full-time Licensed Optician to join our team and provide excellent service to the community. You should be capable and confident in your opticianry, sales and retail management, administration and customer service abilities. You enjoy working in a team-oriented environment and eager to learn more. Some of your duties will include:
Overall management of the optical dispensing operation including management of the frame boards and inventory
Lead responsibility for all glasses fitting, adjustments, repairs, and dispensing as per specifications or prescription
Ensuring patients get proper orders in a timely manner
Assisting management in the development of sales goals and performance tracking
Assist in the scheduling and conducting of patient sales appointments
Advise on use and care of contact lenses as required
Support patients by troubleshooting issues related to their glasses and visual comfort/functioning
Track and check all lab jobs to ensure patients get orders in a timely manner; Ensure patients are up to date on delayed job status
Track supplier refunds/credits (i.e. Lab invoices and all supplier warranties)
Operate, monitor and maintain lab equipment and parts as necessary through regular maintenance checks and service
Coordinate patient satisfaction/adaptation follow up calls
Lead responsibility for all contracted safety glasses orders/dispensing/repairs
Manage, coach and train other team members as necessary
Qualifications
Must be a Licensed Optician in Ontario
3+ years of experience in an optical environment
3+ years of experience in a retail/sales environment providing exceptional customer service
A professional, honest, and fun-loving attitude with a strong passion for delivering high quality service
Comfortable using a wide range of technologies with a continuous improvement mindset
Excellent verbal and written communication skills is a must; Must be fluent in English
Strong multi-tasking, time management, and organizational skills
Experience scheduling, reporting, ordering, inventory management, and other administrative duties
Ability to stay calm when presented with challenging customers
Highly detail-oriented and able to learn and use new technologies
Experience in insurance billing and point-of-sale
