Renowned Vision Researcher Brien Holden Passes Away

Brien Holden, CEO and founder of the non-profit Brien Holden Vision Institute based in Sydney, Australia, passed away on July 27 at the age of 73.

Holden, a Professor at the School of Optometry and Vision Science at University of New South Wales, was one of the most influential optometrists in the world and the winner of the 2014 Charles F. Prentice Medal, the most prestigious award in optometric research.

Speaking on behalf of the Brien Holden Vision Institute, deputy CEO Kovin Naidoo said, “Today is a very sad day in the history of our organisation, Brien was a man of extraordinary vision who devoted himself to the service of mankind.”
