Transitions and the OAC Announce 2015 Students of Vision Scholarship Winner

Mikhail LifshitsPINELLAS PARK, Fla. — Transitions Optical, Inc. and the Opticians Association of Canada (OAC) are pleased to announce the winner of the 2015 Students of Vision Scholarship program, Mikhail Lifshits. A first-year optometry student at the Université de Montréal, Lifshits will be awarded a grand prize scholarship of $2,500 for his detailed and innovative approach to reaching millennial patients in his future practice.

This fall, applicants were asked to develop a project in the form of an essay, presentation or video explaining how they will incorporate millennial preferences and their eye health into the way they will practice as a future eyecare professional. Submissions were reviewed by a panel of judges and evaluated based on their demonstration of creativity, strategic thinking, and ethics. Among a strong pool of creative and well-researched applicants, Lifshits stood out for his plans to integrate technology into his practice as well as build a stronger presence online and in his community.

“We were truly inspired by the entrepreneurial mindset exhibited by each of our student applicants,” said Isabelle Tremblay-Dawson, senior marketing manager, Canada, Transitions Optical. “Lifshits tackled the ‘Millennial Challenge’ by targeting the various elements of a great practice, setting tangible goals and showing how he will build community relationships that will transcend practice walls. We look forward to seeing how Lifshits positively impacts our industry in the coming years.”
