Canada’s First In-Lens Display AI Smart Glasses Enter the Optical Market Through Ming’s Optical Exclusive Partnership with Rokid

Ming’s Optical announces its appointment as the exclusive Canadian optical industry distributor for Rokid smart glasses in Canada.

This partnership introduces to the Canadian market what is recognized as the first and currently only AI smart glasses capable of displaying information directly on the lens, combining advanced wearable technology with practical everyday use.

Unlike conventional smart glasses that rely mainly on audio assistance or external screens, Rokid integrates visual display technology directly into the lens area, allowing users to view digital content privately and conveniently within their natural field of vision. The platform also supports advanced AI services powered by ChatGPT and Gemini, bringing intelligent voice interaction, live assistance, and real-time information directly into a wearable format.

The technology supports a wide range of practical use cases including:

  • Real-time AI assistance – Powered by ChatGPT and Gemini, the glasses can help users with hearing difficulties by converting spoken conversations into live text displayed on the lens in real time. Captions can also be shown in the user’s preferred language, helping bridge both hearing and language barriers. It can also assist low-vision users through AI object recognition that identifies and describes what is in front of them.
  • Hands-free information access – Allows users to take photos or record video without needing to hold a phone or camera, creating a more convenient hands-free experience.
  • Translation support – AI-powered translation supports 89 languages, helping people communicate more easily when traveling, working, or meeting internationally.
  • Navigation prompts – Provides turn-by-turn directions directly in view, making it useful for cycling, walking, hiking, and everyday travel.
  • Messaging and notifications – Displays incoming messages, calls, and app notifications directly on the lens for discreet and convenient access.
  • Productivity tools – Helps presenters, speakers, and professionals by displaying notes, scripts, or prompts directly on the lens during speeches, meetings, or presentations. It can also support voice recording during meetings, interviews, classes, or other important situations for easier note-taking and documentation.
  • Entertainment and media – Enables users to listen to music and enjoy personal media experiences while on the go.

As the exclusive Canadian optical industry distributor, Ming’s Optical will lead nationwide market development, retailer partnerships, demonstrations, education, and customer support.

“We are excited to bring this breakthrough category to Canada,” said a spokesperson for Ming’s Optical. “Designed with integrated lens display technology and industry-leading prescription support in AI smart glasses makes Rokid a truly unique product in today’s market. With ChatGPT and Gemini integration, it also delivers one of the most practical real-world AI experiences available today.”

Ming’s Optical recently showcased Rokid at Inside Optics, where the product generated strong interest from retailers, optical professionals, and industry attendees seeking innovative new revenue categories.

The Canadian launch strategy includes:

  • Exclusive nationwide distribution
  • Optical retail partnerships
