Regular programs suspended as the Association addresses significant operational challenges
The Ontario Opticians Association (OOA) has issued an important notice to its members and industry partners, outlining serious challenges affecting the organization’s ability to continue normal operations. Following a detailed review of finances, governance and operational capacity, the Board of Directors has announced the suspension of regular programs and member services while next steps are evaluated.
At this time, the Association states that it cannot assure members that normal operations will resume. The Board emphasized its commitment to managing the situation responsibly, fulfilling existing obligations and keeping members informed as decisions are made.
Professional Liability Insurance Remains Active
The OOA reassures members that professional liability insurance (PLI) coverage remains fully in effect. No action is required from members, and current PLI coverage is not impacted by the suspension of Association activities.
The Board also confirmed that it is exploring opportunities for other organizations to support the continuing education needs of Ontario opticians going forward. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available.
Contact Information for Urgent Matters
Members with urgent questions or issues requiring attention are encouraged to contact the Association directly at: ontario.opticians@gmail.com
The Board expressed gratitude for members’ long‑standing support, patience during this transition and continued commitment to the profession.
