Orthokeratologist.org Launches Global Community to Unite Orthokeratologists Worldwide

Orthokeratologist.org, the world’s first dedicated community for orthokeratologists, has officially launched with a global call inviting practitioners to register and be counted for the first time in a worldwide database. Created by long‑time colleagues and passionate orthokeratologists Jaimin Patel and Deven Lakhani, the platform brings together everything related to orthokeratology under one independent roof — articles, research, CPD, suppliers, forums, awards, clinical support, reviews, events, training and advice guides.
Designed as a comprehensive resource, the site aims to support both experienced orthokeratologists looking to improve their practice and those just entering the field. Built for orthokeratologists, by orthokeratologists, the platform reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the profession.

A global call to step forward and be counted
Co‑founder Jaimin Patel notes that despite decades of orthokeratology and its position as the fourth mainstream eyecare option, there has never been a dedicated global community nor a clear understanding of how many orthokeratologists practice in each country — or what support they need.
Co‑founders Jaimin Patel and Deven Lakhani are asking the global optical press, industry bodies and manufacturers to help identify every orthokeratologist worldwide throughout October 2026. Practitioners are encouraged to register for free on Orthokeratologist.org and complete a survey outlining who they are, where they practice and what resources they need to enhance patient care.
“We want orthokeratologists everywhere to proudly stand up and say, I am an orthokeratologist,” Patel says.
Strengthening identity and advancing the profession
Co‑founder Deven Lakhani highlights the need for formal recognition of orthokeratologists, noting that other professions — such as orthodontists in dentistry — are globally identified by their specialty. The founders plan to work with optical bodies worldwide to bring orthokeratologists together and strengthen the profession’s identity.
They also aim to support new practitioners entering the field, help current fitters grow patient numbers, and foster a global community that can advance orthokeratology collectively. “Some say orthokeratologists are the rockstars of optometry,” Lakhani says. “We agree, and we plan to give them a place to shine.”
