Canadian eye care professionals are invited to attend a SightGlass Vision webinar on contrast management for myopia control in children, featuring new clinical data and perspectives from Canadian practice.
The webinar, Control the Contrast: From Theory to Practice with MiSight® Spectacle Lenses Powered by Diffusion Optics Technology™, will take place on July 22 at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT.
The session will feature Vishakha Thakrar, OD, FAAO, FSLS, of Vaughan Vision Centre in Vaughan, Ontario; Fabio Carta, Dip. Optom, FBCLA, director of professional affairs at SightGlass Vision; and Nathalie Trottier, OD, FAAO, senior manager of professional and academic affairs Canada at CooperVision.
Carta will open the session with an overview of the science behind contrast management, followed by new two-year findings from SightGlass Vision’s CATHAY study. According to the company, the study showed that DOT® spectacle lenses, available in Canada as MiSight® Spectacle Lenses powered by Diffusion Optics Technology™, reduced average myopia progression and axial length progression compared with the control group after two years of wear.
Dr. Thakrar and Dr. Trottier will then focus on practical considerations for Canadian practice, including how the lenses are being prescribed for young patients and what clinicians may consider when adding the technology to their myopia management options.
MiSight® Spectacle Lenses powered by Diffusion Optics Technology™ are designed to mimic more natural contrast while providing a visual experience described as clinically equivalent to standard single-vision lenses. According to SightGlass Vision, the lenses have been worn by more than two million children worldwide.
The webinar is part of SightGlass Vision’s Control the Contrast initiative, which is intended to support education among eye care professionals on contrast management as an approach to myopia control.
Canadian eye care professionals can register through the webinar registration page.
