Vision Expo East Goes South Beginning in 2025!

Breaking News

The Vision Council and RX Global announces that Vision Expo East 2025 will take place in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Center on February 19–22, 2025, after a long-standing residency in New York at the Javitz Center.

A Consultative Decision
The decision is based on extensive consultation and feedback from customers, sponsors, and allied organizations, and is in complete alignment with furthering customer wants and needs, according to the announcement

“Our industry has changed dramatically over the past few years, and as such, our shows and how we bring business together must also evolve. The opportunities for growth, centralization and community-building in Orlando are abundant, and we are confident that this future planning will better allow us to provide the vision care community with a world-class exhibition and educational program in a world-class venue and event destination for years to come”, says Rx Global and Vision Council Spokespersons.

“Vision Expo East will debut in Orlando in 2025 with a re-imagined show and new chances for exhibiting companies to engage with attendees in a more centralized environment. Show venues, hotels, meeting spaces and special events will all be located within a walkable area, ensuring a better connected and community-like experience.”

Thursday to Saturday Preferred
Mirroring the Vision Expo West date pattern, VEE Orlando will move to the preferred date pattern of Thursday–Saturday.

As a popular destination for conferences, Orlando is well-equipped to facilitate Vision Expo’s unique trade show logistics, ensuring a seamless transition for exhibitors and show attendees. We also anticipate that attendees will take advantage of the vacation and hospitality experiences in the area, enjoying the warmer weather and extending their trips to accommodate family and leisure travel.

The Vision Council and RX expressed their sincere gratitude to exhibitors, members, attendees, suppliers, and staff for their continued support and look forward to bringing the vision community together next March (2024) to celebrate nearly four decades of Vision Expo East in New York City.

Alcon Launches TOTAL30 Multifocal Contact Lenses for Patients with Presbyopia

Alcon

Alcon announced the global launch of TOTAL30® Multifocal, the first and only monthly Water Gradient multifocal contact lens.  The lenses have begun to roll out in the United States and in select international markets.

Many lens wearers stop wearing contact lenses after age 40 due to lens dryness, discomfort and visual acuity issues and often begin wearing bifocals or reading glasses. Patients are also on their digital devices more than ever, leading to digital device dryness. The new TOTAL30 Multifocal lens helps outsmart digital device dryness by utilizing a proprietary Water Gradient Technology to deliver nearly 100% water at the surface of the lens.

“With Water Gradient Technology, DAILIES TOTAL1® Multifocal has become the #1 selling daily disposable multifocal contact lens in the U.S. alone,” said Ian Bell, President of Global Business and Innovation at Alcon. “Now, with the introduction of TOTAL30 Multifocal, we’re bringing the exceptional comfort of Water Gradient Technology to contact lens wearers with presbyopia who prefer a monthly replacement schedule. The lens material approaches 100% water at the surface so all that touches your eye is a gentle cushion of moisture. This will not only transform the multifocal lens-wearing experience, but also ensure an exceptional fitting experience for Eye Care Professionals.”

The lenses utilize PRECISION PROFILE ®, the #1 U.S. selling multifocal optical design, allowing lens wearers to experience clear, uninterrupted vision at all distances near through far. This is the same optical design found in DAILIES TOTAL1 Multifocal and AIR OPTIX® plus Hydraglyde® Multifocal contact lenses. Data show 96% of patients were successfully fit in Alcon multifocal contact lenses with the PRECISION PROFILE optical design.

“Multifocal contact lenses have been a key source of customers and referrals for my practice,” said Jessica Crooker, OD. “Many patients are simply unaware that there are multifocal contact lens options. So, when I introduce them to Alcon’s multifocal lenses, they’re thrilled to have their vision without having to rely on over-the-counter reading glasses.”

TOTAL30 portfolio also includes TOTAL30 Sphere lenses and TOTAL30 for Astigmatism. More information about TOTAL30 Multifocal launch timing and markets will be announced in the months ahead.

Alcon debuted TOTAL30 Multifocal contact lenses during the American Academy of Optometry conference on October 11-14 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
