Dr.’s Choice Optical Edging Facility Enhanced With MEI EZFIT

Following the recent expansion of their AR facility,  Dr.’s Choice Optical Lab has made a significant investment in enhancing their edging department with the MEI EZFIT.  This latest addition of cutting edge technology, from Italy, ensures high speed precision in every ophthalmic lens produced.

Until recently MEI technology has only been found in large scale laboratories across the globe with the capabilities of higher outputs. With a condensed model, MEI has taken their CNC milling technology and has created a breakthrough system, perfect for small labs such as Dr.’s Choice.

The additional NOBLOCK module operates with a blockless centering system for single vision, bifocal and progressive lenses which automatically compensates for any errors.  The EZFIT machine is a complete replacement for manual lens cutting and detailing, increasing both productivity and the ability to meet the demands of difficult cuts and angles often found in high fashion lenses.

WestGroupe Announces New Partnership with Spectill in South Africa

WestGroupe announced that it has appointed Spectill (SA) (Pty) Ltd as its new distributor for their FYSH UK, KLiiK denmark and Superflex brands in South Africa.  This partnership began in May 2017 and aims to facilitate the sale of WestGroupe’s three collections in South Africa by combining WestGroupe’s eyewear expertise with Spectill’s knowledge of the South African market.

Carrera Confirms Jared Leto as Face of 2017 Campaign

PADUA – Carrera confirms the Academy Award Winning actor and recording artist Jared Leto as the star of the 2017 Carrera Eyewear campaign.

The campaign is the first step of a collaboration that will further expand with the launch of the Inspired by Jared Leto collection, that will hit the stores in September 2017.

After a year-long successful partnership for “The Maverick” project, reported on Infoclip in January 2016, the new campaign continues the relationship with Jared Leto.

Terry Richardson, the internationally renowned iconic photographer, lensed the ads, creatively collaborating with Leto in picturing confident and audacious portraits that perfectly highlight the new eyewear collection.

 FYidoctors Announces Two Appointments to Board of Directors

Calgary, AB – FYidoctors announced the appointments of Dino Trevisani and Dr. Winston Koo to its board of directors, following the company’s 2017 Annual General Meeting earlier this month.

As President of IBM Canada, and a longtime executive with IBM, Trevisani brings diverse leadership experience to the FYidoctors’ board of directors. He is passionate about helping Canadian organizations both large and small use innovative technology to transform their businesses and realize their full potential.

Trevisani holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from both Queen’s School of Business and Cornell’s Johnson School of Management. Trevisani currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Conference Board of Canada and as a board member of the Canadian Business/Higher Education Council (BHER), amongst other board appointments.

One of the original founders of FYidoctors, Dr. Koo was intimately involved in the development of FYidoctors’ strategies regarding private label frames, vendor relations and board management. Dr. Koo has established two successful downtown Toronto locations, and has been instrumental in FYidoctors becoming the country’s largest provider of eye care and eye wear.

Dr. Koo is a graduate of the University of Waterloo where he earned his Bachelor of Science (Hons) and Doctor of Optometry degrees. He holds a certificate in the management and treatment of ocular disease from Northeastern State University. In addition, Dr. Koo has served on numerous advisory boards and panels for the contact lens and laser eye surgery industries. He also acts as a clinical consultant for several multinational pharmaceutical companies.
