Carrera Enters F1™ Premium Partner of Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team

Carrera, the iconic eyewear brand owned by Safilo, announces its entry into Formula 1 with a multi-year sponsorship agreement with the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 team.

The partnership was unveiled during the Official Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team launch event on February 20th, when the Carrera logo appeared on Sauber Formula One car livery, on the sides of the visor of Race Helmets, and on the Race Overalls.

Since its creation, Carrera has always followed the passion for sport, alongside sporting legends in different fields. Carrera’s founder, Wilhelm Anger, named his Company after the most legendary car race in history, the Carrera Panamericana, drawing inspiration from what, back then, represented the future.

With this sponsorship, the Carrera logo joins the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 distinctive colors, putting the champion eyewear brand in a prominent position in Formula One.

The new site provides an uncluttered view of Digital ECP’s partnered services that help independent eye care practices be competitive in the increasingly complex digital landscape, which challenges many independent eye care business owners.

Founder and President Karen Ouellet told InfoClip, “Our member services are vetted for real world practicality, affordability and value. We aim to deliver quality digital services that save owners time and money.”

The site provides a central convenient repository of digital assets from leading vendors such as Transitions Optical in the BUSINESS TIPS section. The DIGITAL TOOLS section features the group’s partnered services from various vendors that meet criteria of practicality, affordability, and value. Safilo Group Announces Angelo Trocchia New CEO

Effective April 1, 2018, Angelo Trocchia will replace current CEO Luisa Delgado, who is retiring for personal reasons.

After an MBA at the STOA’/MIT in Naples and a PHD in aeronautical engineering at the University La Sapienza in Rome, Angelo Trocchia began in 1991 an international career in Unilever, where he held various roles of increasing responsibility in supply chain and sales. Since 2013 Trocchia has held the position of Chairman and CEO of Unilever Italia, of which he has lead the business, today among the 5 most relevant in Europe. Previously he was Chairman and CEO of Unilever Israel.

The Board of Directors of Safilo Group, and Ms. Delgado mutually agreed to terminate the contractual relationship existing between them. Luisa Delgado led the company through a period of transition during which its largest licensor, Gucci, changed the relationship from licensee to supplier. The Board of Directors thanks Mrs. Delgado for her efforts and for helping preparing the company for future success.

Vision Expo OPTImum Retail Award Finalists Announced

Vision Expo has announced the finalists for the first annual OPTImum Retail Award. This new awards program celebrates independent boutique retailers by showcasing their products, storefronts, visions and most importantly – their stories.

The finalists are:

  • Atelier Mira (Brooklyn, NY)
  • Eye Q Stylist Opticians (Holetown, Barbados)
  • Spex By Ryan (Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada)
  • Todd Rogers Eyewear (Andover, MA)

From February 16 to March 5, an online vote will take place to help select the winner. To vote, as well as see the photos and stories of the finalists, click here.

Finalists will share their stories and vision for their brand at Vision Expo East during a free Pop Up Talk in the Galleria Lounge (G280) on Friday, March 16, from 3:00 to 3:30 pm. The winner will be revealed during the Exclusive Boutique Buyer VIP Event on Saturday, March 17, from 5–6:30 p.m.

To determine these finalists, award submissions were reviewed and voted on by a committee of industry leaders, including James Spina, 20/20 Magazine Editor in Chief and Senior VP; Christian Roth, Designer and Co-Founder of CHRISTIAN ROTH Eyewear; and Arian Fartash, OD and Instagram social influencer, @glamoptometrist.

The finalists will be highlighted on Vision Expo’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn social media channels. Visit the Vision Expo East website to find out more about these awards and events.
