Canadian Webinar Series Connects Contrast Management Evidence with Real‑World Myopia Control for Children

SightGlass Vision is continuing its Canadian educational webinar series on contrast management for myopia control with a new session focused on real‑world pediatric practice. On October 7 at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT), the company will host “From Contrast Management to Myopia Control: Insights and Best Practices.” The one‑hour session will explore patient cases and firsthand experience using contrast management to slow myopia progression in children.

Canadian eye care professionals can register for the webinar here.

Kimberley Nguyen

During the session, Kimberley Nguyen, OD, FOVDR, of Vaughan Vision Centre (Ontario), will share her experience prescribing DOT® spectacle lenses, available in Canada as MiSight® Spectacle Lenses powered by Diffusion Optics Technology™.

She will present cases where young children with progressing myopia remained stable for several years while wearing the lenses, as well as cases where children progressed on other myopia control approaches but showed slower progression after switching to contrast management.

“They’re actually my go‑to lens, especially for younger children,” said Dr. Nguyen. “I’ve had patients with no progression at all for more than three years. This is the only treatment option in Canada that works just by managing contrast, and because it’s a different mechanism of action, I feel there needs to be more awareness of it among eye care professionals practicing myopia management.”

The webinar will also feature Fabio Carta, Dip. Optom, FBCLA, Director of Professional Affairs at SightGlass Vision, who will review the evidence supporting contrast‑based myopia control and the technology behind the lenses.

MiSight® Spectacle Lenses powered by Diffusion Optics Technology™ are designed to provide contrast‑based myopia control while preserving excellent visual acuity. Research has shown the lenses saved more than 1D of progression on average after two years in Chinese children aged 6 to 10.*

The session will conclude with a live Q&A. Another webinar in the series is scheduled for October 21, with details to follow.
