Kering Launches Exclusive Gucci Eyewear Global Travel Retail Campaign

Kering Eyewear is preparing to launch the new Gucci Eyewear Global Travel Retail Campaign, which goes beyond the traditional customer-based distribution approach, to deliver an innovative channel-oriented experience designed exclusively for today’s “customers on the move”.

Running from May through September 2018, this engaging campaign will be released in Top Gucci Eyewear travel retail doors worldwide.

The creative concept introduces a sleek unisex sunglass style dedicated exclusively to the duty-free market. The oversized rimless mask is shaped with a single thick lens and shiny golden metal temples, while the frame is adorned with iconic Gucci metal rivets and with the distinctive logo lettering.

The shopping experience will be complemented by engaging digital experiences for customers, comprised of branded frames, which allow customers to take a GIF in store through an app and post it on social media using the hashtag #GucciEyewear.

Essilor Academy Canada Launches New Varilux Xpert Certification Program

The new Varilux Xpert certification program from Essilor Academy Canada is designed for eye care professionals who want in depth knowledge of the Varilux brand, specifications and history in order to be able to demonstrate its value with confidence and thereby grow their sales.

The online course includes eight hours of classes divided into three modules: Varilux Classics, Varilux series and Varilux Specialized, to be completed in three months. Very flexible, it easily adapts to eye care professionals’ schedule: participants can activate the training in one click at the time of their choice, interrupt it if necessary and resume it just as easily. Upon certification, participants master the technical details and scientific data of all Varilux products and are more confident that they can recommend the right Varilux product to their customers. Nearly 200 eye care professionals have already joined the program.

“In addition, by becoming a Varilux Xpert,” explains Martin Lespérance, Director-Training & Development at Essilor Canada, “the professional can put forward his expertise in visual health and thus better meet the needs of consumers who always prefer to do business with a person who has advanced knowledge of products and shares it with enthusiasm.”

The Varilux Xpert certification is an addition to Essilor Academy Canada’s training and development program.

Ontario Optometrist Wins Close Provincial Election

Will Bouma, a St. George-based Optometrist running for the Progressive Conservative party, was narrowly victorious in the race to become the MPP-elect for the Brantford-Brant riding in the recent Ontario provincial election.

The margin between Bouma and the second-place NDP candidate was only 621 votes (24,080 versus 23,459 votes). The third place Liberal candidate received 5,349 votes.

In an interview with the Brantford Expositor, Bouma said his priorities are improving transportation and getting Brantford a state-of-the-art hospital.

Bouma, a University of Waterloo graduate, completed his optometry training in Michigan before moving back to Ontario. In 2014 he was elected a Brant County Counselor, and prior to that spent eight years on the Brant County Committee of Adjustment.

Orgreen Optics Announces Canadian Distributor

Orgreen + Goldsmith LLC, the North American subsidiary of Ørgreen Optics, will be appointed as the exclusive distributor of Ørgreen Optics products in Canada, effective from July 1st 2018.

The Berkley, California-based Orgreen + Goldsmith LLC, distributor of Ørgreen Optics in the United States, will be responsible for all sales, distribution and customer support for all Ørgreen Optics products to existing and future Canadian customers. The new structure will include Dave Randhawa as an agent for western Canada and Christophe Muszynski for Eastern Canada.

“We have very ambitious plans for the North America region. It took us some time to understand the market and build the appropriate structure and network but it´s now fully in place,” Says Henrik Ørgreen, CEO at Ørgreen Optics. “I am very confident that Orgreen + Goldsmith LLC will be of great support to all our Canadian customers as well and of course extend our penetration in the market.”

Ørgreen was previously distributed in Canada by Prisme Optical.
