Next Consolidation Opportunity in the Ophthalmic Lens Market?

Citing confidential and informed sources, Bloomberg reports that lens giants HOYA and Essilor are sizing up German lens manufacturer Rodenstock GmbH, although no formal sales process is underway.

The company may fetch as much as $557 Million, according to the report. Bridgeport, the firm that acquired Rodenstock in 2006, hired Goldman Sachs to look at strategic options earlier this year. None of the parties provided comment to the reports.

Looping’s best to explore the world while being protected from the sun in all conditions! What kids and parents both love about Looping is that they are absolutely reversible. You can put them on upside down, because there is no right or wrong way up. Perfect for young learners. The flat elastic strap helps keep frames on. The brightly coloured, non-toxic frames also have no hinges to catch on.

Four out of ten Canadians are unfamiliar with AMD

Vision health is important to Canadians, but they don’t do what’s necessary to save their sight.

This is the conclusion of the National Vision Health Report, commissioned by Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) and published during the 2015 Vision Health Month.

The study found that 92% of respondents believe that eye exams are important and that 82% teach that to their children. Preventing vision loss is the third priority for Canadians, behind heart health and weight management.

However, almost one out of every four respondents has not had their eyes examined in the last two years and 15% do not know when their child’s last eye exam occurred. Knowledge of eye diseases is poor; 40% of respondents do not know what AMD is. Fewer than half of respondents know their family history of eye disease.

This gap prompted CNIB and other eye care organizations to sign the Canadian Patient Charter for Vision Care.

ProDesign New Colouration, Titanium Collection

A striking, layered effect is created in ProDesign Denmark’s new collection 1406-08 in titanium, which places emphasis on colouration. First, the fronts and temples are coloured separately and later assembled with great craftsmanship.

The temple is coloured in reverse order of the front, and the end tip surprises us by reversing the colours again. A constant middle line creates balance.

The titanium parts are finished with rubbercoat, while the endtips are sandblasted.

Available in semi-rimless and fullrim for women, semi-rimless for men.
