New Look Eyewear Wins Best in Training Award at Transitions Academy

New Look_Transitions Academy 2017ORLANDO, Fla. – Transitions Optical honored New Look Eyewear with the 2016 Best in Training title, a category of the Transitions Innovation Awards program, during a recognition ceremony on Tuesday at Transitions Academy in Orlando, Fla.

Marie-Josee Mercier, Vice President Sales and Operations at New Look Eyewear, accepted the award on behalf of the retailer at Transitions Academy.

“Adopting a new method of product training very much allowed for better retention of information for our employees,” said Mercier. “Learning about Transitions products in a fun way helped us maintain a high-level of employee participation and excitement. We are very happy to accept this award.”

Introducing the NEW MagniLink Voice II Reading Machine

Eschenbach Optik of America announces the new and improved MagniLink Voice II.  A second generation reading machine with high performance, contemporary design and expanded features. With the push of a button, this user-friendly reading machine converts text into speech.

The MagniLink Voice II is easy to set-up: unfold the handle, place the reading material underneath the camera, and press the orange button to begin hearing the text read aloud. It can read misaligned documents, full letter pages and has automatic language detection with voice feedback on all of the functions. The reading speed, volume, audio profiles, voices and light can be adjusted. It has three user modes including basic, full and customizable and now has an option to connect to an external monitor via HDMI output so scanned text can be displayed visually while it’s read aloud.

This new-age reading machine is available with two options –  HDMI monitor output and internal battery.

Ontario Expands Drug List for Optometrists

The Ontario government has announced the expansion of the list of drugs that Optometrists can prescribe.  An additional 11 drugs have been added to the list including specific topical corticosteroids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents.  Notably cyclosporine (brand name Restasis® Allergan), a topical immunomodulator indicated to increase tear production, is among the newly added drugs.
