Kering Eyewear Launches 2nd Edition Gucci Eyewear Global Travel Retail Campaign

Kering Eyewear is preparing to launch the new Gucci Eyewear Global Travel Retail Campaign, which goes beyond the traditional customer-based distribution approach, to deliver an innovative channel-oriented experience designed exclusively for today’s “customers on the move”.

Running from May through September 2019, this campaign will be released in top Gucci Eyewear travel retail doors worldwide.

The creative concept highlights a sleek sunglass style exclusively dedicated to the duty-free market. These exclusive sunglasses are featured in two images by photographer Hugo Scott.

Kirk & Kirk Announce MSK as French Distributor

Kirk & Kirk announce the appointment of MSK as distributors in France. MSK have achieved enormous success in the optical market distributing great collections such as Matsuda and Marni.

“We have been looking for a partner that understands how to grow a brand selectively, aiming at sustainable, long term success. Having known Stephane and Jennifer for many years, we are very comfortable that they share our ambitions,” said MD, Jason Kirk.

Kirk & Kirk continue to pursue a policy of selective distribution with independent opticians, limiting distribution to a small number of clients in each city. Their colourful acrylic collection, which is handmade in France from start to finish, is causing waves across the globe, allowing independent stores to differentiate themselves from their competitors and drive traffic through their doors.

Special Olympics 2019 in Abu Dhabi – A Very Special Event for Essilor

Essilor employees from the Middle East were alongside more than 7,500 athletes during the Special Olympics World Summer Games held in Abu Dhabi from 14 to 21 March.

The Special Olympics is an international sporting events fostering acceptance of people with physical and intellectual disabilities of all ages. Essilor has been working with the Special Olympics to empower athletes for 17 years.

During these Special Olympics Summer Games, competitors from more than 190 countries met in Abu Dhabi to compete in 24 sports. A total of 22,000 volunteers joined the event including 35 Essilor employees who worked together in great team spirit wearing Essilor Vision Foundation t-shirts. They helped to perform free eye screenings and set up an on-site temporary lab where they carried out edging and mounting services and quality control checks. All to ensure that the athletes received their prescription eyewear to allow them the best possible vision – so that they could focus on their sporting event.

Key figures of Special Olympics World Games, Abu Dhabi 2019:

– 7,500 athletes
– more than 190 competing countries
– 24 Olympic sports
– 22,000 volunteers
– 5,888 athletes screened through Healthy Athletes program in which Essilor volunteers participated

Call for Abstracts for Paper and Poster Presentations for Academy 2019 Orlando and 3rd WCO Scientific Program

The Scientific Program Committee invites the submission of abstracts for Academy 2019 Orlando and 3rd World Congress of Optometry, to be held Wednesday, October 23 through Sunday, October 27. The Scientific Program offers researchers, educators, and clinicians the opportunity to exchange the latest information in optometry and vision science in two formats, research paper presentations and scientific posters.

The abstract submission window will be open from May 1 through May 31, 2019. This year, the Scientific Program Committee will organize multiple focused paper and poster sessions on special topics that will offer attendees an opportunity to engage in lively discussions and debates.

The Scientific Program Committee will consider all presentations including those from students and residents. Submissions of previously published copyrighted material (e.g. ARVO abstracts or journal articles) will not be accepted. Abstracts will be judged on the following criteria:

Research Abstracts:
Level of scientific or clinical novelty
Methodological soundness
Quantitative description of results
Statistical analysis for significance of results
Support of conclusions by results
Adherence to submission instructions and ethical standards
Language and grammar

Case Reports:
Level of clinical novelty
Completeness of case work-up to support proposed diagnosis
Sufficient author involvement in the examination, diagnosis and/or management of the case
Adherence to submission instructions and ethical standards
Language and grammar
