Novartis Considering Selling Alcon’s CL Care Business

Bloomberg News is reporting that Novartis is considering selling Alcon’s contact lens care product business. While Alcon’s revenues as a whole grew 3.2% last year, revenues from CL care products fell 7.4%. Alcon’s total revenue last year was $10.8 billion, while revenue from CL care products was $646 million.

Alcon’s total net sales were down 9% in the 2nd quarter of 2015 due in part to the decline in sales of CL care products, as well as lower surgical equipment and intraocular lens sales.
