Tura Signs Eyewear License with Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B and GX Brands

Tura Inc. has announced a multi-year agreement with Grammy Award-Winning musician and fashion entrepreneur Gwen Stefani to introduce a new line of sunglasses and optical eyewear for her L.A.M.B. and GX by Gwen Stefani brands. Both collections will debut in 2016.

The L.A.M.B. collection mixes luxury materials and complex constructions with street, rock and roll, and retro influences to deliver an edge and sophisticated flavor. Signature elements include custom metal tips, slotted screw heads and pyramid studs.

GX by Gwen Stefani tells an urban street story using bold color, expressive form and print references to military and tribal themes. Metal accents throughout the collection give it a distinctive rock and roll flavor.

The L.A.M.B. collection will launch with 12 ophthalmic styles and 12 sunwear styles. The GX by Gwen Stefani collection will launch with 12 ophthalmic styles.

 

Unilens Vision Inc. Announces Agreement with Valeant Pharmaceuticals

Unilens Vision Inc, based in Largo, FL, announced they have entered into an agreement with a subsidiary of Valeant Pharmaceuticals, for the acquisition of all common stock at a value of $28 million.  The deal is expected to close September 1, 2015.  Unilens provides a line of specialty lens products to the eye care professionals under the C-Vue® brand name and market and sell products directly to eye care professionals.

Michael J. Pecora, Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer and President of Unilens, stated, “We are very pleased to sign a definitive agreement with Valeant, which creates immediate value for our stockholders. The combination of Unilens’ world class technology and its leading customized lens business with Valeant will create a strong portfolio of products enhancing our commitment to providing the best possible visual outcomes throughout the optical industry.”

The news release does not mention with which subsidiary of Valeant the agreement has been made.  Valeant Pharmaceuticals, headquartered in Laval, QC, completed its acquisition of Bausch + Lomb in 2013, and integrated Valeant’s existing ophthalmology businesses to create a global eye health platform.

Ocuco Buys Optical Assets of Canadian e-Commerce Company Acumenex

Irish optical software company Ocuco has acquired the optical business assets of Burlington, Ontario, based Acumenex, an e-Commerce company that services eye care practitioners in the United States and Canada.

Ocuco will add Acumenex’s webstore and supply chain integration capabilities into its own optical practice management software as part of Ocuco’s omni-channel strategy.

Ocuco is a provider of optical lab and practice management software suites to 8,000 clients, including FYi Doctors in Canada.
