VEE  Expands Education Programming; Early-Bird Registration Deadline

Alexandria, VA – With one week left before the February 15 early-bird registration deadline, Vision Expo East has announced the addition of new educational programming to its expansive scope of education, products, trends and solutions that keep the industry updated on best practices in patient care, practice management and more.

Vision Expo East will debut a slate of new educational tracks including Attract and Retain Customers, Ocular Aesthetics, Supporting the Practice Experience, Clinical Concepts for Opticians and Technicians and Specialty Lens, and new lecture series including ODs on Facebook After Dark.

Through the recently announced OptiCon @ Vision Expo, ABO & NCLE will now offer exam review courses for the National Opticianry Competency Exam (NOCE) and Contact Lens Registry Exam (CLRE), for both basic and advanced levels, at Vision Expos East and West. All exam review courses will be taught by current National Federation of Opticianry Schools (NFOS) faculty. The NOCE and the CLRE, as well as the ABO & NCLE Advanced Exams, Online Spectacle Practical Exam, and Online Contact Lens Practical Exam, will be administered during Vision Expo East on Sunday, March 18, 2018.

The new OptiCon @ Vision Expo Advisory Board has selected their top education picks to help attendees make the most of their time in New York. For value pricing, a new OptiCon package was developed that includes up to 15 hours of continuing education – including an exclusive General Session – as well as Exhibit Hall access, two lunch vouchers, tailored special events, and access to discounted rates at a dedicated OptiCon hotel.

Not to be missed are the returning attendee-favorites including the Owner’s and Manager’s Essentials Program, Spectacle Lens Expert Track, Dispensing Essentials, Retail Program and invitation-only Boutique Buyer Panel, as well as the free Global Contact Lens Forum, Ocular Surface Disease and Wellness Symposium, and Vision Series.

After their successful debut last year, the popular Pop Up Talks series will return for free, fast-paced 30-minute sessions to get attendees up-to-date on fashion forward trends and key industry topics in an intimate, interactive setting in the Galleria Lounge.

Vision Expo East will take place at the Javits Center in New York, NY (Education: March 15–18; Exhibition: March 16–18).

Kate Spade New York’s Aisha 2 is Playful in Leopard!

Kate Spade New York travels to 1920s Paris. This magical place inspired a colour palette of liberating hues such as black with leopard as an unexpected pop of print. Aisha 2, a soft cat eye shape with a bold front and temples in acetate provides for a dramatic look in black with a playful leopard print temple interior.  The signature metal spade logo appears on the left wearing temple as a stylish accent.

IRIS Supports IRIS Mundial for Eleventh Year

IRIS The Visual Group is proud to announce the eleventh edition of its annual fundraising campaign for IRIS Mundial.

Founded in 2001 by Dr. Jean-Pierre Tchang, optometrist, the organization aims to improve the visual health of disadvantaged people in developing countries, such as Haiti and Peru. The campaign will be held throughout the month of February in IRIS stores across Canada.

The main financial partner since 2008, IRIS is actively involved in donating $10 to the organization for each pair of glasses sold during the month. IRIS also appeals to the public by giving them the chance to donate their used glasses at one of its stores. These e‑orts will enable disadvantaged individuals to obtain eye exams, eyeglasses and cataract surgeries.

To date, IRIS stores have donated more than $893,720 to IRIS Mundial, including $69,720 in 2017. The goal for 2018 is to reach $85,000.

“It is with gratitude that IRIS Mundial recognizes the remarkable contribution of IRIS The Visual Group, both financially and through services, both of which are essential to our projects,” says Catherine Rioux, General Manager of IRIS Mundial. “In addition, the generosity of the public allows us to continue to carry out projects, to establish new permanent programs and to help more and more people recover their sight and improve their quality of living,” adds Mrs. Rioux.
