FYidoctors | Visique Enhancing Life Foundation Launch Annual Fundraising Campaign

FYidoctors | Visique announced the launch of its annual fundraising initiative by its foundation, FYidoctors | Visique Enhancing Life Foundation. The campaign will run during the month of October, coinciding with Enhancing Life Month and aim to raise $200,000 for a wide variety of Canadian registered charities.

“As a Canadian company with clinics operating from coast to coast, it’s incredibly important to us that we continue to support the communities we serve,” said Dr. Alan Ulsifer, CEO and Chairman of FYidoctors. “From organizations that support children and youth education, to a variety of health-related causes and diversity and inclusion initiatives – we’re incredibly proud to work alongside our clinics in fundraising for the causes they care about most.”

Founded in 2019, the Enhancing Life Foundation’s mission is to support, and fund causes that enhance the lives of Canadians. Operating year round, the foundation provides grants to a wide variety of Canadian charitable organizations with the support of FYidoctors | Visique’s doctors, staff, and patients. Last year, through a variety of fundraising activities clinic events, donations, and social media campaigns the foundation raised over $120,000 for over 45 local charities.


FYidoctors | Visique Enhancing Life Foundation’s annual fundraising campaign will run until October 31, 2020.

Organizers of Vision Expo Announce New Dates for Vision Expo East 2021

The Vision Council and Reed Exhibitions announce that Vision Expo East 2021, originally scheduled to take place from March 18–21, will now take place May 25–28, 2021 at the Javits Center in New York City.

The date change reflects a proactive decision by the Show’s organizers in the interest of providing more time for companies to effectively plan their participation during this challenging period for the optical marketplace.

The decision to host Vision Expo East in May instead of March is the result of thoughtful communication with vision community members over the past few months.

The organizers learned that finalizing Q1 plans is proving to be a challenge for many members of the optical community. With this in mind, as well as the health and safety of the community, they made the decision to host the event in late May to give our members and exhibitors at Vision Expo the time they need to make their plans.

“While 2021 may look different than years past, we are energized by the resilience the industry has demonstrated in the face of COVID-19. Our community is only as strong as its friendships, associations, and business relationships, which is why we are working diligently to host a Vision Expo event where new relationships are forged and friends can meet face to face again”, according the The Vision Council release.

Unique Wearers Test Shows 89% of Consumers Prefer Transitions® Signature® GEN 8™ Lenses

Transitions Optical conducted a large-scale wearers test with 146 participants representative of the U.S. population to develop a deeper understanding of what people want from their vision experience.

For the study, an entirely new and unique research protocol was developed using an in-lab and in-life testing method. Wearers in the study were given two eyeglasses – one with premium clear lens and the other Transitions Signature GEN 8 lenses with the exact same frames and highest quality lens material for the testing.

During in-lab testing, the study recreated the nine most common light situations we are exposed to day-to-day in a controlled environment and grouped them into three categories: indoor lights, intermediate and changing lights, and outdoor lights. The wearers tested both pairs (premium clear and Transitions Signature GEN 8) for each situation and were asked to complete a survey rating how satisfied they were with their vision experience across four dimensions: sharpness, focus, view and colours. Results of the in-lab testing include:

  • In indoor light situations, Transitions Signature GEN 8 lenses provide excellent vision just like the premium clear lens.
  • Outside, in bright sunlight, people rated their vision experience much higher with Transitions Signature GEN 8 over premium clear lenses.
  • In changing and intermediate lights, Transitions Signature GEN 8 makes a noticeable difference with Transitions lens wearers declaring seeing better than with the premium clear lenses in those situations.

In the second part, the in-life testing method, the participants were asked to experience both pairs in their day-to-day life for seven days each. Each evening they were also asked to fill out a survey to document their experience. By the end of the test 2,044 days of results were recorded. After seven days of trial in their daily lives with each pair of Transitions Signature GEN 8 and clear lenses, results from the in-life testing method found:

  • 69% of people reported a better vision experience wearing Transitions Signature GEN 8 lenses, with only 14% preferring their experience with clear lenses.
  • 69% of consumers perceived better protection with Transitions Signature GEN 8 lenses versus only 5% with clear lenses.
  • 64% of people prefer the way they look when wearing Transitions Signature GEN 8 lenses, with only 13% preferring clear lenses in the same frames.
  • During the week of trial, seven out of 10 wearers received compliments on their Transitions lenses.

At the end of both weeks of trial, the wearers were asked the most important question: which of the two pairs of glasses do you want to keep? The pair with Transitions Signature GEN 8 lenses was selected by 89% of respondents. In addition to the majority selecting Transitions Signature GEN 8, 82% of respondents would also recommend and purchase the lens.

FYidoctors Adds New Location in Ontario with Acquisition of Cobourg Vision Care

FYidoctors announced the latest clinic to join the FYidoctors family: Ontario-based clinic, Cobourg Vision Care. The addition marks the company’s first clinic in Northumberland County.

Dr. Anju Clement joined the practice in 1999, and became the sole owner in 2019, Cobourg Vision Care’s full-scope optometry practice offers eye examinations, eyeglasses, contact lenses and laser surgery consultations. The clinic prides themselves on providing comprehensive eye care to their patients and are diligent in staying up to date on the latest eye care trends and services, in addition to offering the latest technology available. Over the years their team has continued to grow, welcoming Dr. Annie Hsia in 2011, a skilled professional who holds an interest in children’s vision as well as the treatment and management of ocular diseases.
